Geekie missed Sunday’s 1-0 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but his presence on Tuesday highlighted the balance between professional commitments and personal milestones. His wife and daughter have been a central part of his recent days, with Geekie openly reflecting on the unpredictability and emotional weight of welcoming a new child.

“It’s been a long couple days, but it’s good to be back here with the guys,” Geekie said after Tuesday’s morning skate. “It’s tough to get that out of your mind, but everybody’s healthy, and I’m just looking forward to getting back to it.” His return not only marks a personal milestone but also boosts the Bruins’ forward depth as the team heads into the Olympic break.


Geekie has been a key contributor for Boston this season, leading the team with 25 goals in 45 games. Against Detroit, he logged seven shifts and registered one shot on goal in just over six minutes before leaving for a family commitment. Coach Marco Sturm praised the forward’s dedication, noting the team’s respect for Geekie’s decision to prioritize family. “It was sad to see him leave, but we know the importance of family,” Sturm said.


While Geekie hasn’t scored in his last nine games, the Bruins haven’t slowed down. Boston has won three straight and gone 5-1-1 over its past seven games. Even as he adjusts to life as a new dad, Geekie’s focus remains on doing his part to keep the team moving forward.
