For two games, the Dallas Stars managed to limit Connor McDavid’s impact. But Game 3 proved that holding back a player of his caliber only works for so long. McDavid broke loose with two goals, and his relentless pressure helped shift the tide in Edmonton’s favor. Zach Hyman matched his effort, scoring twice and adding an assist. Together, they led the offensive push that overwhelmed the Stars and re-established control in the series.
Oilers make quick work of momentum shifts
The Oilers’ ability to capitalize on key moments made the difference. A disputed play at 13:52 of the first period, where the Stars expected a delay-of-game call, turned against them. Just seconds later, Evan Bouchard’s slap shot opened the scoring. McDavid followed with a second goal just 36 seconds later, sending Rogers Place into a frenzy. That two-goal burst set the tone for the rest of the night.
Beyond the stars, Edmonton’s depth showed up in big moments. Hyman’s third-period goals sealed the outcome, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Evander Kane combined for six assists. Hyman also brought physical intensity, landing ten hits and continuing his postseason trend as a force on both ends.

Dallas now faces an uphill climb. They have just three goals at even strength through three games and must win three of the next four to advance. While they showed flashes of pressure, especially in the second period, they lack the consistency and finish that Edmonton is delivering across all lines.
