Leon Draisaitl's wife Celeste Desjardins sends a heartwarming message as Oilers star reaches 1000th NHL point
Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl has achieved a remarkable feat by scoring his 1,000th career point in the NHL on Wednesday. By achieving this feat, the NHL player became the first German-born player to do this. The moment came against former teammate Stuart Skinner, after he joined the Penguins just four days back. This achievement will further solidify Draisaitl's legacy and his partnership with Connor McDavid, placing them among the top stars of the Edmonton Oilers.
Draisaitl accomplished the feat during the first period on the power play. With just over eight minutes remaining, he delivered a perfectly weighted pass from one faceoff circle to another, with the help of Connor McDavid. McDavid also quickly found Zach Hyman at the net front, where Hyman pushed the puck past goaltender Stuart Skinner to seal the milestone moment.
However, no sooner did he achieve the feat than Draisaitl’s wife, Celeste Desjardin, sent a heartwarming message as she celebrated her husband’s remarkable achievement. Let’s look at what the star's wife has posted on her social media on Leon Draisaitl’s achievement.
As Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl reached the 1,000-point milestone of his NHL career at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday, Draisaitl’s wife, Celeste Desjardin, sent a personal message on her husband’s 1000th NHL score.
Following Draisaitl's 1,000th career NHL point, his wife, Celeste Desjardins, posted a video from her TV on her Instagram story. She posted and wrote, “1,001 points. U R AMAZING! So incredibly proud of you, today and every day. There is no one like you, my love. I love you,” showing the celebration along with a heartfelt message.
She posted the same on her Instagram handle by sharing a video from her TV, where she witnessed the moment of Draisaitl clinching the achievement.
According to NHL records, only five players in league history have recorded their 1,000th career point against a goaltender who was once their teammate. The last to do so was Henrik Sedin in 2017 against Roberto Luongo, underscoring how rare Draisaitl’s accomplishment truly was.
When asked about his achievement, Draisaitl admitted that the idea of reaching 1,000 points never crossed his mind then. He has rather credited the milestone to the teammates he’s played with over the years. Draisaitl stated, “Certainly that I don't get 999 more, I can tell you that for free. But, you know, again, there's so many great teammates that I've been around, so many guys that know how to use my strength and use me, and I'm just very proud to be able to accomplish that.”
With this remarkable feat, Draisaitl also became just the fifth player to reach 1,000 points with the Oilers, further solidifying his position among the franchise's legends. As the season continues, this moment stands as a defining reminder of his consistency, leadership, and enduring value to Edmonton’s pursuit of success.
