Erik Gudbranson Cherishes tender moments with Johnny Gaudreau's newborn son, Carter Michael Gaudreau

A moving hospital visit of Columbus Blue Jackets' Erik Gudbranson with his family commemorated the late NHL forward Johnny Gaudreau by receiving his newborn son Carter Michael Gaudreau. As anyone could tell, the hospital room turned out to be not just a space for the delivery of a baby but also a memory rival to the celebration as Erik Gudbranson held little Carter, Johnny Gaudreau's third child, in an indelibly emotional moment. In a cozy blue onesie, baby Carter lay securely swaddled in his Gudbranson father's arms while he himself bore a symbolic lapel pin marked with the number 13, a quiet nod that went out to Johnny Gaudreau's iconic jersey number. More than just a visit, it was an act of respect and an everlasting friendship just the same.

Through a few Instagram stories, Sarah Gudbranson, Erik's wife, gave snippets of the tender visit. One showed the Gudbranson kids- Bennett and Zoey with Johnny's daughter, Noa, and surrounded by baby Carter and her mother, Meredith. The caption, "Welcome to the sweetest little crew," pretty much summarized the spirit of a family coming together to support one another during a bittersweet time in life.

Meanwhile, Meredith shared her mixture of happiness and sorrow on her own social media post, telling how much Carter looked like his late father in every aspect- from his middle name to the weight with which he was born and his stature- everything about this baby evoked Johnny. Photos of cuddling her three children at the hospital and looking back at special memories with Noa and Johnny Jr. were included.

A Life Honored Through New Beginnings

Meredith announced her pregnancy at the joint funeral for Johnny and his brother Matthew, who were tragically killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver. This birth was eight months after the unfortunate sudden death of Johnny and Matthew. Although the heaviness is great, the Gaudreau family continues to hold on to each other for strength.
