Game 6 between the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars was action-packed and eventful. Colorado dominated Dallas, even though Dallas could have taken the series. A bizarre goal towards the end of the game assisted Colorado in taking the game 7-4 and tying the series 3-3. The teams will now meet in a crucial Game 7. Both the teams have played excellently and had fluctuations. Fans have reason to expect an exciting final game to determine the winner of the playoff move.
A fluke goal hopes game around for Colorado
In the third period, 4-4 on the scoreboard, something unlucky occurred to Dallas. Sam Steel of the Stars tried to pass the puck out of the net, but it was deflected onto the shoulder of his teammate Colin Blackwell. The puck skipped in the air and fell into the Dallas net. It was an unexpected goal and put Colorado ahead. Then Colorado added two more goals on an empty net and won the game 7-4.
Earlier in the game, Colorado had also scored on lucky plays. One goal deflected off two Dallas defenders. Another goal occurred when Cale Makar shot wide, and the puck stuck with Artturi Lehkonen, who scored. Although Dallas experienced bad luck, they never lost hope and continued to fight. They scored four goals with the assistance of their good Finnish players, Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz, and Mikael Granlund.
Big stars shine in a high-drama playoff battle
Mikko Rantanen had a large night. He scored one goal and provided three assists. He used to play for Colorado but now plays for Dallas. Roope Hintz scored two goals, and Granlund added a third. All four of Dallas's goals came from the "all-Finish line." They played quite well together and provided hope for Dallas.
On the Colorado side, Valeri Nichushkin scored two goals. Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar played terrific as well, one goal and two assists apiece. They dominated much of the game for Colorado. The Avalanche fired 48 shots to Dallas's 26. Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger recorded 41 saves, but it couldn't prevent the loss.
Even he admitted following the disastrous game that the fortunate bounce was "
unbelievable" and something you just have to laugh at. The game was quick, hard, and emotional. Players from both sides left everything on the ice.
