Former Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic has officially announced his retirement after a 17-year pro career. His wife, Brittany Lucic, posted an emotional tribute to celebrate his accomplishments after the news broke and said she was excited for the next chapter for the family.
Lucic, a Stanley Cup winner with the Boston Bruins in 2011, hangs up his skates after playing 1,177 NHL games. His retirement has been one of the biggest stories in recent NHL news roundup chatter.
The wife of the former NHL forward shared photos and videos of their three kids cheering for their dad. In her message, Brittany said she congratulated Milan Lucic on an amazing career and that the family was lucky to share many special moments. She said retirement “looks good” for him and was excited about making new memories.

He is thankful for his time with the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames and will always remember the teammates and experiences he had with each franchise, he said.
Lucic was a 50th overall pick in the 2006 NHL Draft and spent nine seasons with the Boston Bruins, returning to the franchise for his final NHL season in 2023-24.
The veteran power forward ended his career with 233 goals, 353 assists and 586 points in 1,177 games. His physical play, leadership and championship success made him one of the most recognizable players of his generation.
