Brady Tkachuk on Team USA’s group chat

The 4 Nations Face-Off, a match between the United States and Canada, was marked by a trio of fights, including a melee in Montreal within the first nine seconds. The team's members had discussed setting the tone over text before the game, causing a chaotic atmosphere that was reminiscent of the notorious Team USA group text.

Brady Tkachuk discussed his conversation with teammates Matthew Tkachuk and J.T. Miller on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast before the team played against Canada, providing insight into their shared thoughts.

Tkachuk explained that the three players had been joking about fighting at the start of the game, and as they joked, they wanted to fight. Matthew informed Brady that he would fight Brandon Hagel at the puck drop and instructed him to grab Sam Bennett. Miller and Colton Parayko agreed to drop their gloves during warmups.

"I'm not gonna lie to you, I was so nervous for Matthew's fight. I'm like, okay, center ice, I can't have you getting your ass kicked," said Brady. "I was trying to give him advice, but all I could say was, 'Yeah! F–ing right, yeah!'"
