"Rob Gronkowski Roasts Tom Brady’s $375M Broadcasting Debut: 'You Suck, Bro'”

Tom Brady, now Fox's lead NFL analyst, was humorously teased by former teammate Rob Gronkowski about his broadcasting debut. Despite playful jabs, Gronkowski admitted Brady's competence in the role. Signed on a hefty $375 million contract, all eyes are on Brady to see if he can match his on-field success in the broadcasting booth.

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski have always been close, both on and off the football field. Together, they helped forge one of the most explosive duos in NFL history, winning four Super Bowls as a team. And now that Brady is retired from the NFL and is on board as Fox's lead NFL analyst, Gronkowski couldn't help but take the best part of a more lighthearted swipe at his former quarterback's new career path.

Gronk's Good-Natured Roast Reveals Their Playful Friendship

Gronkowski, though joking about Brady's first stint behind the microphone last week, summed it up in just three words: "You suck, bro. You suck, man." Though certainly spoken in jest, Gronkowski did not leave it at that. He added an amusing reason to his friendly dig when he said, "He couldn't fill airtime, just like his ball.". He can't make the air on a deep ball, so he can't be considered a deep baller. The good-natured badmouthing between them shows that their career paths are moving in completely different directions, but that doesn't have to stop the camaraderie that they've built.

While Gronkowski's comments were all in good fun, he did confess to Brady's merits in the booth, saying, "He didn't suck. He was really good, very knowledgeable." Gronk's light-hearted snark spreads the playful dynamic that has always lain between the two but also provides insight into how closely the two's paths have remained entwined-even after Brady left the NFL.

Another former teammate, Julian Edelman, also spoke out about Brady's new career, stating that Brady tends to play the best when his team is doubting him. "We all know Tom plays better pissed off," Edelman said, showing that even though Brady has moved away from the gridiron, his fire for competition still burns bright.

Brady's Broadcasting Career: A $375 Million Roll Of the Dice

Tom Brady finally took the microphone full-time as a FOX Sports analyst on September 8, 2024, when he broadcast the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns. Brady had retired after the 2023 season when he signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX-the most lucrative sports broadcasting contract in history. With a storied 23-year career and seven Super Bowl rings, Brady's expectations were very high going into his broadcasting career.
However, Brady's opening broadcast was a mixed bag. While some lauded insightful comments and a loose, relaxed attitude to the game, others still believe he has a little more time to unfold. "Solid start for Tom Brady. You can tell he's easing into it," quipped one fan, with another joking, "Tom Brady hasn't looked this uncomfortable since facing the Giants in the Super Bowl."

How Can Brady Live Up to all of the Broadcasting Hype

A very bold bet FOX made is hoping Brady can bring to the booth just like he had on the field. In an interview with Variety in 2022, he shared his plan of how he would approach the role: "I'll have no problem being critical of things that I disagree with, and I'll have no problem praising things that are exceptional.".
Now that the season is on, everybody's eyes are on NFL legend to see whether he would rise to perform the heavy expectations that come with that kind of hefty contract worth $375 million. His broadcasting career is all set to kick off, but one thing is for sure: Brady thrives under pressure, and his fans are going to be so eager to see if he can survive the new role.
