Snowfall May Set the Stage for an Iconic Eagles vs. Rams NFC Divisional Clash

The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. kickoff, with temperatures hovering around 32°F at the start and dropping into the 20s by the final whistle. AccuWeather reports an 85% chance of snow during game time, with the National Weather Service estimating one to three inches of accumulation between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Adding to the mix, there’s a 95% chance of precipitation, which could also include sleet or rain. While snow is expected to dominate, winds are projected to remain manageable, with gusts between 10 and 12 mph. However, stronger gusts could challenge kickers Jake Elliott and Joshua Karty, potentially impacting field goal accuracy.

The Rams, traveling from the warmer west coast, could find the cold weather daunting. Yet quarterback Matthew Stafford, despite limited experience in frigid conditions since joining the Rams in 2021, has shown resilience. Stafford’s record in games below 40°F is a balanced 1-1, suggesting he can rise to the occasion.

Both teams have expressed readiness to face the elements for a chance to advance to the NFC Championship. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni assured fans of the team’s preparedness:

"We will handle the elements, regardless of what they are this weekend," Sirianni said. He emphasized contingency plans and adaptability, likening their preparation to adjusting for unexpected game-time challenges.

Rams head coach Sean McVay echoed this, acknowledging the forecast and highlighting logistical considerations such as cleat adjustments and handling slick surfaces. McVay noted quarterback Matthew Stafford’s experience, saying, "If it does snow or if it does rain, we have to be mindful of what we need to do to adjust and adapt."

The Rams have had some recent success in cold conditions, having secured a 19-9 victory over the Jets at MetLife Stadium in sub-freezing temperatures in December. Meanwhile, the Eagles have embraced the snowy conditions by practicing outdoors in Philadelphia all week, ensuring they’re acclimated to the expected weather.
