Aaron Rodgers spoke candidly about his retirement plans while appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show”. During the discussion, he shuts down the idea of moving into broadcasting once his playing career ends.

“When this is done, it’s Keyser Soze, and you won’t see me,” Rodgers said on the show. He further stated, “You won’t see me. I’m not doing TV. I am not going to be out and about.”


The comment quickly gained traction because of the path Tom Brady chose after retirement. The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star signed a reported $375 million broadcasting deal with Fox Sports and now calls NFL games. A-Rod made it clear he does not want that lifestyle once football ends.


Chatter around Aaron Rodgers' retirement has grown in recent months. Also, the Athletic's Andrew Marchand had previously stated that A-Rod would replace Tony Dungy, who was let go by NBC last week. But it would appear that the legend would prefer to ride off into the sunset and step away from the sports world entirely.

The star-QB joined the Steelers ahead of the 2025 season but has not confirmed whether he will return for another year. Pittsburgh’s playoff exit fueled the debate about his future. However, Rodgers insisted his appearance on the show was not meant to reveal a decision.

“Anybody on here who is expecting me to make a big decision, just shut off, turn it off now,” Rodgers told host Pat McAfee during the same interview.

The star also provided warm words to the new Steelers HC, Mike McCarthy. The two share a long history dating back to their time with the Green Bay Packers, where they won Super Bowl XLV together. “Mike’s one of the great guys in the league,” Rodgers said during the interview. “Just an absolutely exceptional human being with a huge heart. I loved my time with Mike.”

For now, Rodgers keeps his next move private. Retirement may arrive soon, or he could return for another run in Pittsburgh. Yet his stance on television sounds firm. When A-Rod walks away from the NFL, he plans to disappear from the spotlight rather than replace Brady behind the microphone.
