Woman Arrested and Charged in Car Crash that Killed Vikings’ Khyree Jackson and Two Others

The tragic accident that claimed the life of Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson last summer has led to significant legal action. On Thursday, Cori Clingman, the 23-year-old driver responsible for the crash, was arrested and indicted on 13 criminal counts, including negligent manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. The charges stem from the devastating accident that occurred early on the morning of July 6 in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Driver Indicted for Fatal Crash Involving Vikings Rookie Khyree Jackson

The crash occurred on northbound Route 4 near Presidential Parkway in Prince George's County, Maryland. Clingman, then 23, was behind the wheel of an Infinity Q50 when her vehicle collided with a Dodge Charger carrying Jackson, Anthony Lytton Jr., and Isaiah Hazel. All three victims, former high school teammates at Wise High School, perished in what has been described as a "horrific tragedy" by Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy.

“This was a horrific tragedy that should not have occurred,” stated Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy, as she addressed the press following Clingman’s indictment.


After a thorough six-month investigation led by the Maryland State Police, Clingman was arrested and is currently being held without bond. She faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Braveboy emphasized that the indictment was only the beginning of the fight for justice for the victims, saying, “This just starts, really, our fight to get justice for these three young men, their families, Wise High School, the NFL, and this entire community.”

The legal proceedings are intensifying as Clingman faces multiple criminal charges. In addition to negligent vehicular manslaughter, she has been indicted for grossly negligent and criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter. The charges also include vehicular manslaughter linked to her driving under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, Clingman’s vehicle struck Jackson’s Dodge Charger, leading to the fatal crash.

Khyree Jackson, a Maryland native, had recently been drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL Draft after a stellar career at the University of Oregon. His promising future was tragically cut short by the crash. The Vikings organization expressed its sorrow over the loss of Jackson, mourning the death of a young athlete with such a bright future ahead.


In the wake of Jackson’s death, his family has turned to advocacy and remembrance. Ebbony and Raymond Jackson, Khyree’s parents, shared that they are working to establish a foundation in honor of their son. The foundation aims to raise awareness about the importance of driver safety and will serve as a platform for the Jacksons to speak with young athletes about responsible driving. Their mission is to ensure that no other family has to endure such a painful loss due to reckless driving.
