Wife Brittany Mahomes had to do this to shut down Patrick Mahomes' dad's feud with MLB star

Patrick Mahomes Sr. and former MLB pitcher John Rocker were set to square off in a celebrity boxing match this April. The fight, however, is no longer happening. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy confirmed that Brittany Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes' agent intervened, shutting it down.

The fight wasn't some random idea. According to Portnoy, it was Mahomes Sr. and Rocker who brought the idea to Barstool Sports, claiming they "hated each other and wanted to fight." Now, it's dead before it even got started.

Portnoy didn’t hold back his frustration when discussing the situation on The Unnamed Show. He made it clear that Mahomes Sr. and Rocker were the ones who wanted this fight, not him.

"They came to us to do this. How would we ever come up with this concept? Like, 'Oh, let's put John Rocker vs. Pat Mahomes Sr.' Like, who would ever think of that?"

He then explained how Brittany Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes’ agent completely shut it down.

"Mahomes' agent, the football player, and Brittany -- from what I am told -- intervened and were like, 'There's no way this fight's happening. We're going to cut this guy off if he does it.'"

No discussion, no negotiations—just a firm no. And just like that, the fight was off the table.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. and John Rocker's beef started on Bourbon Street after the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl loss

The whole thing started after the Kansas City Chiefs lost 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes Sr. was in New Orleans, where he ran into John Rocker. At first, it looked like a regular conversation, but things got heated fast.

Witnesses say Mahomes Sr. started cursing Rocker out, catching the former MLB star off guard. The situation escalated, and the two nearly came to blows before others stepped in to break it up.

A fan captured the altercation on video, and Rocker later confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Mahomes Sr. was furious over a joke. He even admitted he wanted to punch him right then and there.

From that moment on, both were all-in on settling things in the ring. TMZ reported that Mahomes Sr. and Rocker even staged another confrontation during Super Bowl week to hype up their upcoming fight. That was before Brittany Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes’ agent stepped in and shut it all down.

Mahomes Sr. was expected to make at least $85,000 from the fight. Whether this rivalry finds another outlet remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: it's not happening in the boxing ring anytime soon.
