The Las Vegas Raiders have been without quarterback talent for over two seasons since Derek Carr left the team in 2022. Despite not being an elite quarterback, Carr's solid play helped the team stay competitive.

Since Carr's departure, the team has employed Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer, Aidan O'Connell, Gardner Minshew, and Desmond Ridder as quarterbacks. Nick Shook of NFL.com predicts that the team could add legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason with the help of minority owner Tom Brady.

Mike Florio has ruled out the Raiders as the preferred team to sign Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers' 2025 soap opera is just beginning, with his requirements for his next team listed just days after leaving the New York Jets. Analyst Mike Florio ruled out the Las Vegas Raiders as the favorite team to sign Rodgers. The Jets announced Rodgers' departure from the organization over a week ago, announcing his departure due to poor results in two seasons, impacting both the player's and the team's statistics.

Media speculation on Rodgers' potential destination has been ongoing, with the Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Los Angeles Rams as favorites. However, Florio advised erasing the Raiders from the pools following Rodgers' recent statements.

In a recent episode of NFL on NBC, the founder of Pro Football Talk asked, "Why would he [Rodgers] want to play for the Raiders?" Mike Florio questioned, "All due respect to the Raiders, but as of right now, I think an objective assessment of the Raiders organization would be, 'We're a solid fourth out of four in the AFC West.' You got three playoff teams in the division; why would you go to the Raiders if you want to win?" Florio noted.

Rodgers' requirements for team signings include "want" and "are good," but the Raiders are not a contender for a wild-card berth, as noted by Florio, as they are far from a contender. The Chiefs remain the division's heavy favorite, with the Chargers and Broncos having strong records, surpassing the Raiders' modest 4-13 record.

Tom Brady's arrival as a minority shareholder is expected to significantly alter the Raiders' organizational culture, but as a seven-time Super Bowl champion, Rodgers must consider alternative options to secure a contender.
