Despite excelling in their respective fields—Biles as a record-breaking gymnast and Owens as a safety for the Chicago Bears—the two maintain a lighthearted approach to their differences, as recently highlighted in a Sports Illustrated interview.

During a video shared on January 16, the couple was asked a series of fun questions, including who the better athlete in their relationship is. Without hesitation, Owens pointed to Biles, calling her the superior athlete. Laughing, he remarked, “I’m not doing no backflips. Nah,” while she giggled beside him. It’s not surprising, given that Biles is a 7-time Olympic gold medalist and the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast in history.


However, when it came to who is the better cheerleader, Biles passed the crown to her husband. “Jonathan, he knows more and really pays attention,” she said, joking about her own habits of losing track of the game after halftime. Owens humorously added, “She’ll hear everybody else yelling and she’ll be like, ‘What happened?’ But it’s the thought that counts. I love it.”

Their banter is a proof of their relationship rooted in mutual respect and humor, even as Owens has faced criticism in the past. In December 2023, Owens appeared on “The Pivot” podcast and jokingly implied he was “the catch” in the relationship, also admitting he didn’t recognize Biles when they first matched on the dating app Raya in 2020. This sparked backlash from Biles’ fans, who took to social media to defend her. Biles later clarified in her Netflix docuseries, Simone Biles Rising, that his remarks were taken out of context. She also condemned the negativity, stating, “Who’s going to go to somebody’s profile and say who you can and can’t love? That’s just ridiculous.”

Since tying the knot in April 2023, Biles and Owens have continued to support each other in their professional journeys. Owens attended Biles’ Gold Over America Tour and even traveled to Paris for her Olympic appearances. Meanwhile, Biles has fully embraced her role as a supportive WAG, cheering for Owens on game days.

Their partnership extends beyond sports as well. The couple playfully agreed that Simone is the better cook, while Jonathan is the more fashionable of the two.
