Before joining the Saints in February, Doug served as the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, who went on to win Super Bowl LIX.
Football connections run even deeper in the family. Ashlynn’s brother, Garrett Nussmeier, is the starting quarterback at LSU. That connection is also how Campbell and Ashlynn first met. Campbell and Garrett were teammates at LSU, playing together in Baton Rouge from 2022 through 2024. During the 2024 season, Campbell protected Garrett’s blind side as his left tackle, a year that marked the quarterback’s breakout.
Before the 2025 NFL Draft, Campbell spoke openly about how important Ashlynn’s support had been during the process. In an interview with Us Weekly while promoting his partnership with Head & Shoulders, he didn’t hold back his appreciation. “She’s amazing,” said Campbell. “She has a football background, so she knows what it takes, the sacrifices that have to be made. If she wasn’t as good with that type of stuff, I’m sure it would be a lot more difficult. But she’s a rock star.”
That support was on full display earlier this year when Campbell celebrated his birthday. The Patriots lineman turned 22 on January 6 and received a heartfelt message from Ashlynn on social media. She shared a collage of photos of the couple on her Instagram Stories, capturing moments from casual outings to game days. Along with the photos, Ashlynn included a message that reflected their close bond. “Thank God for this one every day!! Forever thankful for every memory & moment spent together. Love doing life with you, the biggest light. I love you,” she wrote.
The posts showed the couple hugging, sharing kisses on the sidelines, and enjoying time together away from football. It was a personal glimpse into a relationship built alongside demanding careers and high expectations.
The Patriots are enjoying a strong run, securing a playoff spot and the No. 1 position in the AFC East after winning 14 games. With a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers ahead, Campbell’s focus remains on football.
