How Sean McVay and Veronika Khomyn first met

Sean McVay and Veronika Khomyn met between 2011 and 2013, while McVay was an assistant tight ends coach in Washington and Veronika was a student at George Mason University in Virginia. At the time, McVay was part of a young coaching staff that would later become famous, featuring future NFL head coaches such as Kyle Shanahan, Matt LaFleur and Mike McDaniel.



When McVay landed the Rams’ head coaching job in January 2017, becoming the youngest head coach in modern NFL history, Veronika made the decision to move with him to Los Angeles, an important step that coincided with the most important phase of his career.

Veronika was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States in 2009. She completed her bachelor’s degree in international business at George Mason University before earning a master’s degree in global management from Arizona State University.

In Los Angeles, she pursued a career in luxury real estate and established herself as a licensed agent and building a professional identity independent of McVay’s football success.



The couple got engaged in June 2019 during a vacation in France. 3 years later they got married at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.

Their wedding came just months after McVay reached the pinnacle of his profession, leading the Rams to victory in Super Bowl LVI. Football remained part of the celebration, with a Lombardi Trophy-themed wedding cake and surprise appearances from NFL stars.

Family life and becoming parents

In October 2023, Sean and Veronika had their first son(Jordan). In December 2025, they had their second son (Christian). McVay was able to avoid missing games both times, even though both children were born during the NFL season.



McVay has said several times that being a father has changed how he sees things, even if he is also juggling the obligations of being an NFL head coach.

Veronika has always been open about her Ukrainian ancestry, especially since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. She has used public platforms to show support for her home nation and promote awareness about the situation, much like McVay.
