"You have to kind of anticipate what he needs, because sometimes he needs you to be completely supportive, sometimes he wants the advice, sometimes he wants the sounding board and sometimes he just wants you to listen," she said.
That understanding has helped their marriage last. Holly has also said the two simply enjoy being together and finding humor in everyday moments, something she credits as a big reason their relationship has endured.
The Campbells have two children, Cody and Piper, both of whom grew up around football. Cody played college football at Trinity University before earning a master’s degree in business analytics from the University of Michigan. He’s already had internships with both the Saints and the Lions, showing interest in building his own NFL path. Piper graduated high school in 2024 and has been openly proud of her dad’s work in Detroit. “This has been crazy. You have shown everyone what the lions are truly made of,” she wrote in a January 2023 Instagram post. “You gave the city something to fight for and that this is not the ‘same old lions’. I cannot wait to see what you do in the future, I know it will be big. I’m so proud of you and love you so much����.”
At home, the Campbells also share life with three dogs. Holly convinced Dan to adopt two Teacup Yorkies, Thelma and Louise, along with a Catahoula Leopard Dog named Bird. Dan later joked that he got “those two clowns” to keep Holly happy, though they’ve since become constant companions.Despite Dan’s intense coaching style and late-night work habits, Holly remains his steady presence. When he was introduced as Detroit’s head coach, he made sure to thank her publicly, a quiet reminder that behind the energy and emotion is a long-standing partnership that keeps everything grounded.
