NEW DELHI: During Monday night's broadcast of the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers game, legendary quarterback Troy Aikman expressed his frustration with NFL officials, adding his voice to the growing chorus of criticism surrounding their decisions.

Aikman, who was on the call alongside Joe Buck for "Monday Night Football," specifically highlighted his displeasure with the delayed determination on a crucial play involving the Packers' kickoff just before halftime.

Aikman's frustration emanated from the officials taking an extended amount of time to decide whether the Packers' kickoff, following Anders Carlson's 36-yard field goal, had touched Giants blocker Lawrence Cager and not gone out of bounds. The delay in making a decision irked the former Dallas Cowboys legend, who emphasized the need for officials to make prompt decisions, stating, "The problem with all of this is just make a call. I mean, there’s 13 seconds in the half, you know, just make a decision."

The criticism from Aikman aligns with the broader sentiment among fans and players regarding officiating in the NFL this season. Last week, Aikman and Buck were on the call for the Packers and Chiefs game, which ended in controversy due to a disputed pass interference call.

The frustration with officials extended to Sunday night when Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes criticized a pivotal offensive offsides call on Kadarius Toney that negated a touchdown.

Reflecting on the ongoing officiating concerns, Mahomes expressed his frustration, saying, "It's tough to swallow. Not only from me, and football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game. They’re human. They make mistakes. But every week, we’re talking about something."
