Travis Kelce brutally roasts his own dating show, admits he’d choose waxing over watching it again

Travis Kelce has never hidden his discomfort with one chapter of his early fame, and this week he turned that regret into an unfiltered laugh. Speaking on his New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs star made it clear there is one experience he would happily endure physical pain to avoid. The comment landed fast, blunt, and honest, the kind of candor that has made the show a hit with fans who value authenticity over polish.

The moment came during a lighthearted segment, but it revealed something deeper about growth and self-awareness. Kelce is now a Super Bowl champion, a media figure, and a global celebrity. Yet even with all that success, he still cringes at the memory of a reality television gamble that once promised quick money and visibility. During the “No Dumb Questions” segment, Kelce was asked, “Would you rather be forced and tortured watching Catching Kelce on a loop for the rest of your life or get Brazilian waxed like Jason?” Without hesitation, he replied, “I’d rather get Brazilian waxed. Are you kidding me?” His brother Jason agreed, saying, “Yeah. Just rip it off. Easy decision.” Travis doubled down moments later, adding, “But yeah, I’d rather just get my gooch waxed.”


The exchange was funny, but it reflected a long-standing truth. Catching Kelce aired in 2016 and followed the tight end as he dated 50 women, one from each state. At the time, Kelce has admitted he was not financially secure. On The Pivot podcast, he explained his mindset clearly. “I was so bad financially my first couple years,” he said. “I literally went through my first couple checks like it was nothing.” He later added, “So I heard about the situation where I can make six figures in two weeks? I was like … ‘This is actually starting to sound a little better.’”

Years later, his view has not softened. On Bussin’ With the Boys, he called the show “the worst thing I ever did,” admitting, “It didn’t set me up for anything. I didn’t realize what reality TV really was.”

Today, Kelce’s life looks very different. He is engaged to Taylor Swift, and the two announced their plans with humor and warmth, writing, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Swift later shared how thoughtfully he proposed. “He really crushed it in surprising me,” she said on The Graham Norton Show.
