“Trash”: Cardi B faces major backlash after dragging her two month old son into Stefon Diggs defense

Cardi B is not unfamiliar with the negative response of the masses, but the response to her defense of Stefon Diggs has hit a nerve more than most. The initial court battle between Diggs and his former personal chef has rapidly turned into a cultural issue, drawing the rapper into a frenzy of the self-criticism of her own fan base. The scandal has shown how the boundaries between faithfulness and responsibility in relationships with the celebrity are so thin.

As the allegations against Diggs circulated, Cardi chose to speak directly, using social media to defend her partner. That decision did not quiet the noise. Instead, it amplified it. Fans who once celebrated her candor now question her judgment, especially as emotions, motherhood, and past public stances collide in real time.

Cardi B’s defense fuels backlash as fans push back

The controversy stems from allegations made by Stefon Diggs’ former chef, who accused the NFL star of physical assault during a dispute over unpaid wages. Diggs’ attorney strongly denied the claims, stating, “They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated because they did not occur.”



Cardi echoed that confidence in a heated post on X, sharing what she described as text messages with the accuser and writing, “Not once has that woman said anything to me about being touched.. NOT ONCE!!” She went further, saying, “Mind you, we was talking every single day until she left that house and she JUST wrote me this.. but I’m gonna let the courts handle s*** and when it gets handled I want all yall talkin s*** on your f***in knees with apologies just as loud the way yall been harassing over a lie… and I put that on my two month old son in the name of the lord!! That’s how confident I am.”

That last line sparked the strongest reaction. Critics called her language reckless and insensitive, with one fan writing, “Putting anything on her 2 month old son is incomprehensible. She needs to take all this energy and spend it on her kids, not these trash men!”

“[O]ne of the things you had on Nicki in yalls little arguments was not supporting abusive family members/boyfriends and here you are just being a ding dong for a guy you’ve been with for like a year,” one person wrote.



Others pointed to Cardi’s past criticism of public figures who defended abusive relatives, accusing her of hypocrisy. The backlash grew loud enough that Cardi later deleted the post and urged fans to stop attacking her relationship. “Y’all need to calm down,” she said in a video. “Y’all been dragging me for three or four days.”

Still, the response has not softened. For many fans, the issue is no longer just about Diggs. It is about whether Cardi’s fierce loyalty has crossed a line that even her most devoted supporters are unwilling to follow.
