The controversy surrounding former NFL reporter Crissy Froyd and journalist Dianna Russini has taken another turn, with Froyd making new allegations about relationships between league reporters and NFL personnel. Speaking on “The Howard Eskin Show,” Froyd claimed that Russini's situation is not an isolated case and suggested similar conduct exists elsewhere across the league's media ecosystem. While her remarks have added fuel to an already polarizing debate, Froyd did not provide evidence to support the allegations, and no individuals beyond those already publicly connected to the controversy have been identified or verified.
How many reporters does Crissy Froyd claim were involved in similar situations?
More than a month after losing her position following social media posts aimed at Dianna Russini, Froyd continues to speak publicly about what she describes as a broader issue within NFL media circles.
During her interview with Howard Eskin, Froyd was asked directly how many female reporters she believed had engaged in conduct similar to what has been alleged in the Russini controversy.
“There are at least six that I know of,” Froyd said.
The comment echoed claims she previously made in a Daily Mail column, where she wrote that multiple female reporters had privately disclosed relationships with NFL employees while covering teams.
“I’ve also been told by at least half a dozen female reporters that they have had sex with NFL staff and, in one case, a prominent NFL head coach, while they were covering the team,” she wrote.
Froyd argued that such situations create an uneven professional environment and described them as “unfair and demoralizing” for journalists who follow traditional reporting standards.
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Froyd stopped short of naming anyone. When pressed by Eskin about identifying the people she referenced, she cited legal concerns and declined to go further.
“See that’s the thing. My biggest thing with this is that people have asked me to do that and I think I’ve already implied in hypotheticals some things that you should really look into. To avoid any legal dispute, I can’t say any more than that,” Froyd said.
What are the latest allegations linked to the Russini-Vrabel controversy?
The interview did not end there. Froyd added another cryptic comment that immediately sparked speculation online.
“One of them starts with a J,” she said. “I won’t go any further than that, but just to give you a bit of a tidbit.”
She also reiterated previous accusations that Russini had relationships involving “multiple head coaches” and suggested other NFL personnel were involved as well. When Eskin asked whether the issue extended beyond coaches, Froyd replied, “Yes.”
At this stage, those claims remain allegations. Froyd has not publicly produced evidence supporting them, and no independent verification has emerged.
The controversy traces back to April, when photos published by Page Six showed Russini and Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel together at an Arizona resort. Both denied any inappropriate relationship. Russini later resigned from The Athletic during an internal review and continued to reject claims of an affair.
Meanwhile, Vrabel remains head coach of the Patriots, and the organization has continued to support him throughout the fallout. As new accusations continue to surface, the story has shifted beyond the original photographs and into a wider debate about ethics, boundaries and accountability within NFL media circles.
