Kayla Nicole breaks silence on online backlash after Taylor Swift’s rumored diss track
The release of Taylor Swift’s latest album, Life of a Showgirl, has stirred plenty of speculation and not just among her fans. One song, “Opalite,” has social media buzzing after listeners linked its lyrics to Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, reigniting a chapter of the tight end’s past that many thought was behind him.
Swift sings, “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone / And you were just a pose,” a line fans believe references a viral clip of Kelce asking Nicole to put her phone away during a dinner date. The pair dated on and off for five years before parting ways in 2022, and Kelce began dating Swift in 2023.
Kayla Nicole admits fear over social media reactions amid rising scrutiny
In the latest episode of her podcast The Pre-Game, Kayla Nicole candidly discussed the toll that public attention and online criticism have taken on her mental health. “As someone who obsesses over the fact that I, on a daily basis, am terrified of my comments, terrified of my DMs,” she shared. “I don’t want to be triggered. I don’t want to care, I don’t want to look.”
Although Nicole never mentioned Swift directly, her tone reflected the emotional weight of constant scrutiny, especially when social media ties her name to Swift’s lyrics. Trying to lighten the moment, she joked that if people insist on leaving negative remarks, they should at least do it on her sponsored posts so she can earn from the engagement.

Kayla also admitted that dealing with public misconceptions has been overwhelming. “I’m like God, if anybody f–king Googles me, they’re gonna think I’m a crazy person right now,” she said. “I can relate (to) … experiencing adversity, great change in your life, maybe misconceptions of people in public in general.”
