NEW DELHI: Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at the NFL Honors on Thursday, February 8, where he handed off the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award to Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward. Harry's attendance at the NFL Honors was marked by his presentation of the prestigious award to Cameron Heyward. The unexpected appearance thrilled the audience, and according to reports, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell extended a special invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for the event. The royal couple shares a friendship with Goodell, further adding to the significance of their presence.

Despite the invitation, it seems Prince Harry won't be making an appearance at the Super Bowl on Sunday. The royal couple is facing a busy schedule, with plans to kick off the Invictus Games next week. Additionally, Harry recently flew to the U.K. to be with his father, King Charles, who disclosed this week that he is undergoing treatment for a recently diagnosed cancer.

During the NFL Honors, Harry's introductory speech was well-received by the attendees. The Duke shared a light-hearted moment, joking about the differences between rugby and American football.

"Good evening, NFL. It’s an honor to be with you all tonight. I really love how you stole rugby from us and you made it your own," he teased. "Instead of passing it backward, just pass it forward. Why not wear pads and a helmet? Of course, have an offense and defense, that makes sense. And why not take a breather every 15 seconds? And you know what, instead of a 10-month season, let’s just make it 18 weeks. Genius."

Transitioning to a more serious tone, Prince Harry commended the NFL players for their remarkable contributions on and off the field. He acknowledged their role-model status, emphasizing the positive impact they have on millions through their conduct and charitable efforts.
