Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s jaw-dropping on-field antics continue to make waves, as his astonishing reverse hurdle, dubbed the "spin hurdle," has now been immortalized in Madden NFL 25. The move, which almost defies belief, was officially added to the game by EA Sports following Barkley’s incredible performance during the Eagles' 28–23 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 3.
Saquon Barkley's unreal spin hurdle becomes a Madden NFL 25 feature
The play in question occurred during the second quarter when Barkley received a screen pass on third-and-6. In a stunning sequence, he evaded two defenders with a flawless jump cut, followed by a gravity-defying spin that propelled him backward and over Jaguars defensive back Jarrian Jones. While fans were left in awe, Barkley himself admitted during the Air It Out podcast that the maneuver was not intentional. “It’s not a safe play… I can’t really give this a name because I have no intentions to ever do that again,” he remarked, emphasizing that replicating such a move was far from his plans.
This addition to the popular video game has sparked a mix of reactions across social media. While many celebrated Barkley’s feat, others took the opportunity to critique EA Sports. Some fans expressed frustration over the game's persistent glitches, with comments like, “But they won’t fix the millions of serious issues in the game. Frauds,” and, “Just another broken animation defenders will get pulled into that you have absolutely no control over.”
Despite the criticism aimed at the game, Barkley's on-field achievements remain undeniable. With 1,137 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 197 carries, he is averaging an impressive 5.8 yards per carry this season. His dual-threat ability has also shone as a receiver, with 210 receiving yards and two touchdowns from 23 catches in just 10 games. Entering Week 12, Barkley leads the NFL in rushing yards per game (113.7) and total yards per contest (134.7), positioning himself for a record-breaking season.
