Cam McCormick’s college football career was marred by injuries and diseases, from ACL tear, knee injury, knee surgery, rhabdomyolysis, a torn deltoid ligament, a broken left fibula, screw placed in the ankle, stress fracture, tendinitis, and tibial tendon rupture to a torn Achilles tendon. His personal life, too, was muddled with problems. In October 2022, The Oregonian reported, “McCormick is estranged from his biological father, Corey. Their relationship was close when Cam was a child, but they drifted apart when he and his mother, Debra, moved from Arizona to Pennslyvania and back when he was growing up. After they moved to Bend in 2012, his father visited a couple of times, but they have not spoken since McCormick arrived at Oregon in spring 2016.”

In 2022, Joe Morgan of FOX News reported that McCormick had already earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s, saying he would study yoga or business or pursue internships in order to satisfy the academic requirements.
