Randy Moss shuts down Tyreek Hill hype: “Top 5 now, but he’s nowhere all-time”

When Randy Moss talks, wide receivers, you listen. After all, this is one of the greatest to ever do it. But when Moss was recently asked about Tyreek Hill’s place in NFL history, he didn’t sugarcoat a thing. He gave Hill a backhanded compliment: elite today, but nowhere near the all-time list. And just like that, the NFL internet exploded.

Tyreek Hill gets praise for the present but no love for the legacy

Moss acknowledged that Hill is one of the best receivers currently in the game. And that’s hard to argue, the man’s a seven-time Pro Bowler, Super Bowl champ, and has been terrorizing defenses since 2016. But Moss made it clear: don’t even think about putting Hill in the same breath as Jerry Rice, TO, or himself.



“He’s nowhere all-time. Where is he at in today’s game? Tyreek Hill is probably top five. I put him top five.”

It wasn’t shade. It was Randy being Randy, direct, no fluff, and fiercely protective of his generation’s greatness.

The stats say Hill is elite but Moss is talking long-term dominance

Tyreek Hill’s career so far? Wildly impressive.

• More than 70 touchdowns
• Consistently top 5 in yards and big plays every season

But when you stack that next to Moss or Rice? It's not quite there. Moss had 15,292 yards and 156 TDs. Jerry Rice? Just a casual 22,895 yards and 197 TDs, numbers that may never be touched.

So, Moss’s “nowhere all-time” comment might sting, but statistically? He’s not wrong.

So… is Tyreek Hill nowhere all-time? Or just not there yet?

Here’s the thing, Moss never said Hill can’t be great. He just said he’s not there yet. And honestly? That’s fair. Tyreek Hill is still playing at a ridiculously high level. If he puts up a few more monster seasons and continues to wreck defenses into his 30s, he’ll absolutely force his way into the conversation.

But for now? In Moss’s eyes, he’s still just climbing the ladder.

Whether Moss meant it as motivation or not, this quote is going to follow Tyreek Hill for the rest of his career. And knowing Hill? He’ll use it as fuel. He’s already proven people wrong time and time again.
