Ex-Steelers WR Sets Record Selling Super Bowl Ring at Auction
Burress wins the second top spot and overtakes Don McCafferty whose ring used to be one of the players in the open market. Burress’s ring has gained special value because he is the player who scored the game-winning touchdown.
His masterstroke performance in the Super Bowl XLII touched and passed from Eli Manning. The Giants tried to stop the New England Patriots from becoming the champions of the season.
We can say that Burress had a major role in Super Bowl LXI to lift the victory for the Giants. The Giants defeated the Patriots which included likes of
Tom Brady and Randy Moss.
With victory came some blow as well to the Burress as he faced certain legal hardships. Certainly in the year of November 2008, Burress was charged with legal issues when he shot himself in the leg with an unlicensed gun.
The above incident took place on a Manhattan night club and unfortunately, he had to face 20 months in prison after pleading guilty.
Looking back on his career, he spent the final two seasons of his career with the Steelers and also four seasons with the Giants after being selected as the No.8 pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.
