The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to make history by playing a regular-season game in Ireland in the 2025 NFL season. While the official announcement from the NFL is expected soon, multiple reports suggest that the Steelers will take the field at Croke Park in Dublin. This marks a major moment for the franchise, as it will be their first competitive game in Ireland, nearly three decades after their preseason victory over the Chicago Bears in 1997.

Steelers’ President Art Rooney II has long expressed interest in expanding the team's presence internationally, stating that they would love to be the first NFL team to host a game in Ireland. NFL rules require teams to play at least one international game every eight years, and this year, it’s Pittsburgh’s turn.

According to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac, the game is set to happen, although the opponent and date remain unconfirmed. Reports suggest that the Buffalo Bills or the Seattle Seahawks could be their likely opponents, as both teams are yet to be assigned an international game. The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings, who have already played overseas recently, are unlikely contenders.

Fans in Ireland are thrilled about the possibility of seeing an NFL regular-season game on their soil, and excitement has been building ever since rumors began circulating on social media. Steelers Ireland podcast host Jimmy English also hinted at the upcoming announcement, further fueling speculation.

Will Cooper Kupp Join the Steelers?

In addition to the international game, Steelers fans could witness another major change, a high-profile trade. Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is reportedly on the move, and the Steelers have emerged as potential contenders to land the Super Bowl LVI MVP.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers had previously expressed interest in Kupp at the trade deadline, and they could reignite talks now that the Rams are open to moving him. While George Pickens remains the team’s top wide receiver, Pittsburgh still lacks a reliable WR2, making Kupp an ideal target.

Kupp played 12 games in the 2024 season, recording 710 receiving yards and six touchdowns. His experience, combined with his elite route-running and ability to make clutch plays, could be a game-changer for Pittsburgh’s offense. However, it remains to be seen whether the Steelers will make a move or if another team will swoop in for the veteran receiver.

With an international game on the horizon and trade rumors swirling, the 2025 season is shaping up to be an exciting one for Steelers fans.
