‘People on Phones...Uninterested’: Viral Tweet Slams Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Performance

Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show received rave reviews and featured surprise cameos by Serena Williams and Samuel L Jackson. Lamar who recently won multiple Grammy Awards for his track ‘Not Like Us’, which is also a diss on Drake. Lamar performed some of his hit tracks during the halftime show, including Humble, DNA and All the Stars. And while the Compton rapper was unanimously praised for his set, a viral tweet shared some footage from the audience galleries of Caesars Superdome which quite a few audience members were not paying a whole lot of attention to Lamar’s performance.

“This is real life not twitter. people do NOT know who kendrick is. instead of him using this stage to properly promote his music & introduce himself to new fans, he made the biggest moment of his career about DRAKE,” the tweet says,

“#obsessed media outlets are already calling this the worst halftime show of all time. i hope it was worth it @kendricklamar @sc.”



While Kendrick did perform several tracks from his discography, his Grammy-winning track ‘Not Like Us’, was clearly the highlight of the show. It’s possible that some Super Bowl attendees are not aware of the Drake and Kendrick feud or the context of Kendrick’s Super Bowl set which seemed to be a commentary on America.

“People on their phones silent & uninterested as fck. like this is so fkn embarrassing,” the X thread said. However, netizens took to X to share contrary opinions and also shared other videos where crowds were seen dancing to Lamar’s set and singing along with his songs.

“It did not backfire, those who understand lyricism, symbolism, and Hip Hop understood the assignment. It wasn’t for everyone, and that’s what makes it better. who cares if the folks who can afford to go to the Super Bowl didn’t vibe?” an X user shared.



Another user shared footage from a restaurant which was playing Super Bowl live and hundreds of people seemed to be dancing to Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ and singing loudly. “Weird cuz there was like 500ppl in this random restaurant going crazy like it was live,” the user captioned the video.
