Patrick Mahomes watching playoffs from home sparks unease as personal priorities shift

Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL late in Week 15 and underwent reconstructive surgery shortly after returning to Texas. His goal is clear. He wants to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season.



Chiefs head coach Andy Reid offered reassurance on Mahomes’ progress, saying, “First of all, he’s doing great for just being three weeks out or so.” Reid added, “He’ll go ahead and most likely stay up here (in Kansas City) for the majority of the time rehabbing… and he’s just been in there grinding.”

While Mahomes works through rehab, his family marked a major personal milestone. The couple celebrated the first birthday of their youngest daughter, Golden Raye.

Brittany shared moments from the day, writing, “Celebrated our Golden girl with the best crew.” The celebration included cake, laughter, and a surprise moment when Golden appeared to take her first steps, drawing cheers from family members in attendance.

Brittany recently addressed whether baby No. 4 could be in the future. “Nope,” she said. “We’re done. We’re done for a while. Three. I don’t know, I mean I feel like you can never like say you’re done, but I think three is all I need.” Mahomes echoed that sentiment earlier, saying, “We’ll see down the line, maybe. But my goal was always three.”

For now, the Mahomes family is embracing this unexpected pause. Football will return. Right now, recovery and family come first.
