The noise grew louder when former NFL quarterback Cam Newton addressed the situation on his “4th&1” show. Speaking during a recent episode, Newton directly tied the ongoing situation to the New England Patriots’ leadership.



He said, "We are not saying that Mike Vrabel is right and Diana Rossini is wrong. What I'm saying is, fellas, you are cooked if your lady publicly disrespects you. He further continued, “Is this the Patriots' way, ladies and gentlemen? The owner, the player, and the coach. Robert Kraft sh*t, he got his past in the parlours. Who is the player? Stefon Diggs Super Bowl. … And that old Vrabel.”


The comment quickly shifted focus from just Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini to a broader discussion involving the franchise’s top figure. The controversy began earlier in the week when photos of Vrabel and Dianna Russini at an adults-only hotel in Arizona went viral. Both are married, which triggered speculation about their relationship. The timing and setting only added to the scrutiny.


Vrabel responded to the New York Post on April 8, 2026, calling the claims baseless. “These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable,” he said. He also made it clear that he would not engage further.


Russini issued her own clarification the same day. She said the images lacked context and explained that they were part of a larger group setting. “The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day,” she stated, adding that reporters often meet sources outside formal settings.


However, the situation escalated when Front Office Sports reported on April 10, 2026, that The Athletic had opened an internal review into Russini’s conduct. The report also noted that she has not published any stories since the photos surfaced, placing her role under scrutiny.


Newton’s remarks added another layer because they brought Robert Kraft’s past back into public discussion. In 2019, Kraft faced misdemeanour solicitation charges in Florida. Those charges were later dropped after key evidence was ruled inadmissible, but the episode still follows him. For the Patriots, the timing is far from ideal. Vrabel led the team to a Super Bowl appearance in the 2025 season, raising expectations quickly. Now, off-field headlines risk pulling attention away from football. The franchise has not issued any official statement so far.
