A screenshot began circulating online that appeared to come from her ex Offset’s Instagram Story. It looked real enough to fool thousands of people, and it created a messy rumor that quickly overshadowed the excitement around her baby’s arrival.
The screenshot showed the short message, “My kid lol.” That tiny line sent people into a frenzy, with some suggesting that Offset could be the father instead of her current partner, Stefon Diggs. Within hours, the fake post spread across social media, and the speculation only grew louder. Before long, Cardi stepped in to address it herself.
Offset debunks fake, viral Instagram Story about Cardi B's son
Cardi shared her frustration directly with fans on X, making it clear that she has reached her limit with the nonstop rumors. She wrote, “Y’all be thinking it’s so funny and it’s not.” She followed that with a more serious explanation of what she has been dealing with, adding, “It’s been over a year and I’m still being harassed and threatened to the point that I feel like my life in danger. It's all fun and games until it's too late.”
She did not stop there. Cardi said that people will do anything for attention and that these fake posts can spiral fast. She wrote, “MF’ers do anything for attention and it could get real nasty with just one upload,” then ended her message with, “LEAVE ME TF ALONE.”
Not long after Cardi spoke out, Offset released his own response through a spokesperson. The statement made it very clear that the alleged Instagram Story was never his. It read, “Any statements attributed to Offset circulating on social media are completely fabricated. Cardi responded to misinformation, and the situation escalated unnecessarily.” The spokesperson also shared that, “Offset has remained supportive of Cardi and genuinely wishes her nothing but the best.”
The person behind the fake screenshot has not been identified, and the situation only adds to a string of recent rumors involving the former couple. Earlier this month, Offset had already pushed back on claims that he turned down a large divorce settlement. In an Instagram comment, he wrote, “False rumors all of it. Stop running a hate campaign nun of this is true or the first s**t that was about this was true.”
