NFL trade rumors: Derrick Henry campaigns for Baltimore Ravens to pursue A.J. Brown with strong message for front office

The Baltimore Ravens continue to have one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL in Lamar Jackson, but their receiving core is still in need of elite-level talent. Outside of Zay Flowers, who broke the 1,000-yard barrier in the 2023-24 season, they have not had the talent to stretch the defense or beat them up down the field. However, a new plan has emerged from their star running back, Derrick Henry.
Derrick Henry has been campaigning for the Baltimore Ravens to sign A.J. Brown, who is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and a former teammate of Henry’s in Tennessee. It seems Ravens are serious about revamping their offense and giving Lamar Jackson the best talent around him after a tumultuous season and a major change in the organization.

Appearing on the Up & Adams podcast with Kay Adams, Derrick lauded A.J. Brown’s toughness, competitiveness, and ability. They played together with the Titans from 2019 to 2021, during which time they were one of the most physical units in the league and made the playoffs each year.
Brown’s body of work since departing Tennessee only adds to the case for Henry. With the Philadelphia Eagles, Brown has been a consistent Pro Bowler, a multiple second-team All-Pro, and finished his stint with a Super Bowl championship in 2024.
The challenge, however, is that the price is high. Brown is tied to the team until 2029 after signing a three-year extension worth $96 million, and the Eagles would ask for a premium in return. Just the price makes this trade complicated. But the Eagles had a poor season and were eliminated from the playoffs early. Brown’s season ended with him looking frustrated on the field, including dropping passes and a sideline altercation with head coach Nick Sirianni. There have been reports that Brown may consider a trade if the Eagles do not convince him that they have the offense to return to greatness.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens are embarking on a new chapter. The team is still reeling from a devastating finish to the season, which led to the firing of long-time head coach John Harbaugh.
Henry’s public lobbying of Brown may be more than just wishful thinking—it may be a sign. The Ravens understand that the room for error is small, and Lamar Jackson’s best years are not to be ignored. Only time will tell if A.J. Brown really ends up in Baltimore or not.
