A defense that traditionally thrives on pressure suddenly lacked a consistent edge threat. Crosby provides exactly that. Durable, relentless, and still in his prime, he arrives with the expectation that he can reshape the Ravens’ pass rush almost immediately.
For Crosby, the moment carried more reflection than celebration.
“It’s been seven years, being with the nation, Raider Nation has given me everything,” said Crosby in a video he posted to his X account. “My family, I’ve had a chance to get married, had the most beautiful daughter in the world. Grow as a man, as a player, as a leader, as a human being.”
His career journey has been deeply personal. Crosby first met Rachel while both were students at Eastern Michigan University in 2016. He played football while she competed on the school’s women’s soccer team. Their relationship grew alongside Crosby’s football career, eventually leading to marriage and the birth of their daughter, Ella Rose Crosby, on October 13, 2022.
Rachel’s support became especially significant during one of the toughest stretches of Crosby’s life. In 2020, the star pass rusher entered rehab for alcohol addiction. Since then he has remained sober, a decision he often credits with saving his career and his life.
In an interview with PEOPLE last year, Crosby spoke openly about that support system.
“She’s my rock. I wouldn’t be here without her.”
Reflecting on his recovery, Crosby explained how those challenges shaped him.
“I was living a wild life, a fast life and addiction is real. It’s a disease, something that was very hard on me but at the end of the day, you always hear people say you can’t change, people don’t change they are who they are I so firmly believe that’s so false.”
“You've got to be able to go through some hard times if you really want it. If you really want to be together, you've got to go through hell and back, and we’ve both been through a lot together but it only made us stronger,” he added.
Even while embracing his new opportunity, Crosby made clear that part of him still belongs in silver and black.
“One thing I can say, above all else, is that I gave ya’ll everything I got and I have no regrets about that. I put everything into trying to win as a Raider.”
He also shared a long term wish that surprised many fans.
"I truly want to finish, when it's all said and done in a Raiders jersey, whenever that time comes," he said.
Looking back at the moment his career began, Crosby remembered the draft call that changed everything.
“It’s tough, man,” he continued. “It’s been a damn journey, since the day I got drafted, I’ll never forget. That 510 number coming and hitting my phone when I was in Texas at my draft party, not knowing where that was. Getting a call from Jon Gruden, giving me an opportunity of a lifetime to be able to be a Raider, and it felt perfect.”
Now the journey moves east. Baltimore believes Crosby can help push a contender closer to a Super Bowl run, while the Raiders begin reshaping their future with two valuable draft picks.
For Crosby and his family, the memories of Las Vegas remain. But the next chapter begins in Baltimore.
