More like not reacting. To stay safe. Anyhow, New England Patriots broadcast analyst Scott Zolak recently addressed Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini’s situation during his radio show, Zolak & Bertrand, on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
A fan mail asked Zolak to discuss the matter. And Zolak tried his level best not to speak much about it and stay within the boundaries---much like NBC Sports regular contributor Mike Florio’s “stay on target. stay on target. stay on target” instruction for fellow host and former Patriots coaching assistant, Chris Simms, during their discussion of the same matter.
Patriots’ Scott Zolak admits to knowing Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini but won’t touch scandal
Discussion via Boston Media Critic: “Matt has emailed in. And he writes, ‘Am I incredibly obtuse or oblivious? Why is Zo uncomfortable with the [Dianna Russini and Mike] Vrabel topic?”
“Not uncomfortable with it,” said Zolak via Boston Media Critic. “I’m not going to comment on it. During the football season and multiple times in the offseason, I do things with Mike [Vrabel].
And I know Mike. And Mike and I have a good back-and-forth working relationship. I know Mike’s wife; she’s been in some of the meetings. I know Mike’s two sons. I’ve met them, I’ve hung out with them during the football season.”
“I know Dianna Russini,” continued the Patriots analyst. “I know the people involved.
And I’m in no position to comment on anything that happened between these two. It does me no good.
I like my jobs; I like working here, I like working with the Patriots, I like doing games, I like doing TV with them. I like being with the team. For me to sit there and cast stones at this guy would not do me great things. So, there’s your answer in a nutshell. It’s pretty much like the beat reporters.”
Some more fuel?
Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel reportedly coordinated on how to respond to the photos
NBC Sports’ Mike Florio just put forth a surprising reveal. Florio shed light on ESPN’s Ben Strauss’ deep dive report on Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel’s situation.
“Among other things, Strauss reports that Russini coordinated with Vrabel about how to respond to the initial story from the New York Post, which posted photos of the two of them together at an adults-only resort in Sedona, Arizona, on April 7,” Florio wrote.
Florio further said that this move to communicate with the involved person could be viewed as “a potential violation of the very high bar the publications apply to reporters, when it comes to avoiding conflicts of interest.”
Speculation alert: now, if Russini did coordinate her response, it led to her resignation. As for Vrabel, his job reportedly remains safe, and the coach will address the press on draft day.
Dianna Russini's AP votes reportedly under scrutiny after Mike Florio brings them to notice
NBC Sports' Mike Florio reports that in 2024, AP [The Associated Press] said it would not release the ballots, but it did, shocking everyone. As for 2025, they said they would release it, but they did not. With Dianna Russini's alleged connection to New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel surfacing in the 2026 offseason, everyone is curious to know if she voted for him, as he won the 2025 AP NFL Coach of the Year award for his 2025 campaign [14-3 record].
Last Men Standing: NFL Survivor Pool Podcast creator/host Tony Farmer elaborated on this topic and said, "Pro Football Talk's a very established media organization. They don't have the freedom to say the things that I have the freedom to say, because I don't have an editor that I need to run stuff by. I don't work for a big corporate company like NBC.
So, I'm going to say what I think Mike Florio wanted to say, but wasn't able to say: Did Dianna Russini tell Josh Allen that she voted for him for MVP? And she didn't. Did Dianna Russini tell Josh Allen that she voted for him for MVP and then went and cast her ballot for Lamar Jackson? Did Dianna Russini tell both Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson that she voted for them? And then was caught off guard when the AP released this information.
This is fascinating. This is relevant because remember, Mike Vrabel just won Coach of the Year, and Dianna Russini is one of those 50 voters, and the AP has been completely silent. Is she still a voter? Apparently. She hasn't lost that role. She's lost her job. She resigned. But she, as of today, is still an AP voter, despite this obvious concern, this obvious conflict of interest."
