Netflix's NFL Christmas Day promo shows Ralph Macchio and William Zabka hilariously clash over which teams to support in Cobra Kai style

Back in the 1984 film, The Karate Kid, fans saw Ralph Macchio and William Zabka go against each other as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Larence. It seems like they are still maintaining the rivalry as Netflix dropped a video of Ralph and William announcing the NFL games on Christmas Day but apparently, they are supporting completely opposing teams.

Ralph Macchio And William Zabka Continue Their Cobra Kai Rivalry

The video dropped by Netflix to promote their NFL matches on Christmas Day which will stream exclusively on Netflix, features Ralph and William sitting down to make the announcement. They start the video by saying how they can no longer wait to watch the NFL on Netflix on the 25th of December. William then announces “Now that we are in the same dojo, we are rooting for the same teams.” This is in reference to the Cobra Kai series that features both Ralph and William and became a sequel to the 1984 film The Karate Kid.


As William announces how they are supporting the same team, they both together say the names of the teams that they will be supporting on 25th December. But as they are rivals of each other, both Ralph and William announce the names of opposing teams. Ralph announces he is supporting the Kansas City Chiefs while William takes the name of the team the Kansas City Chiefs will be going against, the Pittsburgh Steelers. As they announce the opposing names, they both get awkward and again try to announce the names of the teams they are supporting. As expected, they failed again as William takes the name of Houston Texans and Ralph names the Baltimore Ravens. They again get awkward and Ralph says “I knew this would happen”, referring to their rivalry.

Netflix Announces A New Season Of The Cobra Kai Series

At the end of the video, both of them give up and decide to wish the audience “Merry Christmas.” The video ends with Netflix announcing the third season of the famous Cobra Kai series will be streaming soon.

This video teaser acted as a sweet nostalgic post for fans who have watched the Cobra Kai series and are looking forward to watching the NFL games on Netflix. Fans loved this unique collaboration of the Cobra Kai series and the NFL as one user commented, “Hopefully one of the ads during the game is a sneak peek trailer to Season 6 Part 3 of Cobra Kai.”

Another user on X teased the rivalry Ralph and William’s characters had in The Karate Kid and the Cobra Kai series and commented, “So Daniel and Johnny can't agree on a dojo but Ralph and William unite over football? Peak character development right there.”

On 25th of December, Netflix will livestream two matches - this includes the Kansas City Chiefs going against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 pm ET and the Baltimore Ravens going against the Houston Texans at 4:30 pm ET.
