Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett has never been one to shy away from bold ambitions. Fresh off his return to the team, the defensive powerhouse is doubling down on his belief that the Browns can chase a Super Bowl before he cements his Hall of Fame legacy. But for that dream to become a reality, one major hurdle remains, Cleveland’s long-standing quarterback struggles.
Browns’ biggest hurdle to 2025 playoff push
For decades, the Browns have been searching for stability under center, and 2025 is shaping up to be yet another season where uncertainty looms large. Speaking to the Browns Radio Network, Garrett emphasized the importance of finding a quarterback who can embrace the learning curve and grow with the team.
Any team that's going to go far needs a quarterback and one that's young, can learn and is willing to be patient with the process," Garrett stated.
As things stand, Cleveland’s quarterback options are slim. With Deshaun Watson sidelined for another year and Russell Wilson opting for New York, the Browns have little beyond Kenny Pickett. That leaves two paths: rolling with Pickett or drafting a rookie signal-caller.
Cleveland Browns quarterback search: Top draft targets and future plans
With the No. 2 overall pick in hand, Cleveland is evaluating top quarterback prospects. Cam Ward has already worked out for the team and could be an option if he doesn’t go first overall. Additionally, the Browns plan to meet with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, while later-round targets include Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe.
Garrett understands that regardless of who lines up under center, the Browns' defense will once again bear the weight of the team’s success.
That's not for just a young quarterback. That's for veterans and guys who've been here for a while,” Garrett noted. “So as far as quarterbacks, whether it's one from the draft or an older guy, they have some help not only in their room but from some of the veterans.”
With a dominant defense and an elite pass rusher in Garrett, Cleveland has a foundation strong enough to keep them competitive. But unless they secure a quarterback capable of managing the offense, their Super Bowl aspirations could remain just that. A dream!
