Micah Parsons injury update: Packers star shares rehab progress after ACL tear
Micah Parsons recently shared a positive update on his recovery after suffering a torn ACL during the 2025 NFL season, giving Packers fans a renewed optimism heading into the 2026 campaign. The star edge rusher revealed that he has reached an important milestone roughly two months after undergoing knee surgery.
Parsons suffered the injury in Week 15 during Green Bay’s game against the Denver Broncos, when a non-contact incident ended his season prematurely. Despite the setback, the defensive standout appears to be progressing steadily through rehabilitation and remains hopeful about returning early in the upcoming season.
Parsons provided the update while responding to a fan on social media, explaining that he had reached the two-month mark since surgery and had already regained independent mobility.
“I just hit my two-month mark a few days ago! I'm so blessed, brother! I'm walking and moving on my own again! God is amazing,” Parsons wrote.
Reaching this stage of recovery is considered a positive sign for players coming back from ACL injuries. Typically, the rehabilitation timeline for such injuries ranges from eight to twelve months depending on the player’s healing process and conditioning progress.
Parsons’ recovery appears to be on track so far. Shortly after the surgery, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur indicated that the defender was already ahead of schedule in the early stages of rehabilitation.
Before the injury, Parsons was delivering another dominant season. The pass rusher recorded 12.5 sacks, 26 quarterback hits and 41 tackles, reinforcing his reputation as one of the NFL’s most disruptive defensive players.
Green Bay had acquired Parsons in a blockbuster trade from the Dallas Cowboys prior to the 2025 season, and the team quickly made him a centerpiece of its defense. Shortly after the trade, he signed a four-year contract worth $188 million, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.
His absence was felt during the postseason as the Packers struggled to generate consistent pressure without their star defender. Because of his importance to the team, the organization has closely monitored his rehabilitation timeline.
It's interesting that his rehabilitation time is the same as that of Patrick Mahomes. Even Mahomes hurt his knee in the same week of the 2025 season and had surgery not long after.
Since both athletes reportedly had procedures performed by the same orthopedic surgeon, Parsons’ progress provides a useful reference point for Mahomes’ recovery as well.
For Packers fans, however, the primary focus remains on Parsons’ return to the field. The 26-year-old defender finished his first season in Green Bay with 12.5 sacks and 79 pressures, earning Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors.
Parsons' optimistic news comes months before the 2026 season starts, which means that the Packers' defensive star is well on his way to making a successful return.
