The time changes so quickly for some NFL players that at one point, nobody notices a star player, but in the next moment, that same star player gets chased by everyone. That’s what happened to Baltimore Ravens star quarterback and 2-time MVP Lamar Jackson. In the 2018 NFL draft, Lamar was the last quarterback in the green room to have not been drafted to any team. His mother, Felicia Jones, sat right beside him. She saw her son feeling remorseful so she continued to motivate him.

Four quarterbacks got selected in the 2018 NFL draft before Baltimore Ravens star QB Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson was a hidden gem in the NFL 2018 draft. Yet, he was the last one to be picked. Four others prioritized before Lamar Jackson were:

  • Josh Allen - then and now quarterback for the Buffalo Bills (overall pick No. 7)

  • Baker Mayfield - former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns (overall pick No. 1) and now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Josh Rosen - former quarterback for Arizona Cardinals (overall pick No. 10), and last played for Minnesota Vikings practice squad till January 2023

  • Sam Darnold - former quarterback for the New York Jets (overall pick No. 3) and now plays for the Minnesota Vikings

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen is the biggest 2018 NFL draft bust

If only we could go back in time and change the course of our lives. QB Josh Rosen was drafted before QB Lamar Jackson.

And look where they are today. Josh Rosen is studying at Wharton School and the University of Pennslyvania. He is considered as the biggest NFL draft bust, meaning, a lot was expected from Rosen but he could not meet the expectations.

On the contrary, Lamar Jackson took his Baltimore Ravens team to the NFL divisional round against the Buffalo Bills this season in 2024.

If only ‘star quarterback, Heisman Trophy awardee, PFF MVP, NFL MVP, 4-time Pro Bowler, and OPOY 2017’- Lamar Jackson was noticed and picked before Josh Rosen, things would have been different for them.

Lamar was sad in 2018 for being the last quarterback to be drafted. But today, he’s the NFL GOAT of the best rookie quarterback for the Washington Commanders, Jayden Daniels.
