“Just joking”: Jalen Hurts clarifies his controversial comment about Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni
Jalen Hurts, the star quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, made an offhanded comment about Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni during a postgame media availability. Hurts praised Sirianni for his strong performance during the NFC Championship game victory over the Washington Commanders and his overall experience playing for the Eagles.
Philadelphia, with a strong defense led by Fangio, is going to take the game to the max, with Hurts and Barkley breaking conference final records. The team is ready to take the game to the max, seeking revenge. The game will be unpredictable because of each team's strengths, offense, and defense. Their own focus has resulted in canceled Pro Bowl appearances. Because of injury concerns, Chiefs and Eagles representation will not be available for seven days when the game is scheduled.
The Eagles won the conference championship game against the Commanders 55-23 to advance to Super Bowl LIX. Social media interest was generated from a controversial comment by Jalen Hurts following the game regarding Nick Sirianni. Hurts joked that Sirianni let him out of his "straitjacket".
Siranni said, "He's done a great job. He's done a great job. He let me out of my straitjacket a little bit today," while chatting with reporters at a press conference. But on Friday, Hurts insisted that comment was merely a joke. "I was just joking around after the game," Hurts told reporters.
During his media availability on Tuesday, Sirianni fielded questions about the "straightjacket" comment. "I think he was having fun after the game. We've been winning a couple different ways this year. . . . But I know this, and he's said this plenty of times, he doesn't care how we win, I don't care how we win, as long as we win. And we do everything we can do to be able to win," Sirianni said on Jan. 28 during the press conference.
"And as we've talked a lot, there have been different circumstances of how games have [gone] and where we've been at late in games. But we found a way to win and rattle off 15 out of 16. So, again, thought he was having fun with that after the game. And loved how he went out there and executed and prepared for this game.”

ESPN reported that Hurts and Sirianni had a strained relationship over the 2023 season. A source noted the dynamic was "fractured" in August of that year. Over the 2023 season, Philadelphia Eagles' 10-1 start devolved into just one win in their last six matches ended with a 32-9 wild-card round loss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Their Super Bowl appearance the prior season was the cause. But things have been decidedly different at the end of the 2024 regular season and the postseason for Philly. Last Sunday, Sirianni, Hurts and the Eagles were given the George Halas Trophy, after the team won the conference title and gained a spot for Super Bowl LIX.

Jalen Hurts addresses infamous 'straightjacket' comment directed at coach Nick Sirianni
Super Bowl LIX promises to be the kind of game awaiting NFL fans by the eagles and the KC Chiefs, building up for their much-expected event. A team aiming for the first historic win in Super Bowls was the first; they had enjoyed 17 matches in a straight row with a leader, Pat Mahomes in the match between them and now, the group has some minor absentees when it comes to the offense and line, thus showing history from handling tight spots. The Eagles won the conference championship game against the Commanders 55-23 to advance to Super Bowl LIX.
