Despite the Super Bowl heartbreak, Kelce isn’t rushing into retirement talk. “I’m kicking every can down the road,” he shared, emphasizing he’s focusing on his team before making a call. With a grueling 12-year career, including countless playoff runs, Kelce admitted the wear and tear is real: “The fact that we keep going to these AFC Championships and Super Bowls, that means I’m playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league. That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body.“It’s a lot of time in the building... that process can be grueling. It can weigh on you. It can make you better and it can drive you crazy. Right now, it was one of those things where it was driving me crazy this year. It happens as you tail off towards the back nine of your career. At 35, Kelce knows his body isn’t the same, noting this season’s career-low 823 yards and three touchdowns. Yet, he hit a milestone—breaking Jerry Rice’s record for most Super Bowl receptions. He acknowledged the mental and physical strain: “It drives you crazy when you’re not performing at your best.”
Kelce assured fans that if he returns, he’s going all-in: “I’m going to take some time to figure it out,” he said. “I think I owe it to my team-mates that if I do come back, it’s going to be something that — it’s a wholehearted decision. I’m not half-a**ing it. I’m fully here for them and I think I can play. It’s just whether or not I’m motivated or if it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.” For now, he’s taking time to decide what’s best for himself and his future.Whether he stays or steps away, Kelce’s legacy as one of the greatest tight ends is already secure. His next chapter—on or off the field—will be one to watch. Also read - Jalen Hurts Has a $255M Contract—But Still Rents a $2K Apartment?! Here’s Why
