Garrett Wilson considered Davante Adams one of his favorite players as a kid

Garrett Wilson, the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year, expressed excitement about playing alongside Davante Adams, a player he considered one of his favorite players as a kid. Wilson made his first public comments on the Adams trade, stating that playing alongside Adams is a great learning opportunity for him. "It's a great opportunity for me to learn a lot," Wilson said. "Hopefully, we can get this thing rolling and start winning games.”

Wilson, 24, is partnering with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers for the first time this year, despite the connection taking time to develop. They have connected for 21 receptions, 208 yards, and two touchdowns in two games. The addition of Adams, who has become the best receiver catching passes from Rodgers, should further strengthen Wilson's chemistry with Rodgers.

Adams's presence in the lineup will change the game for Wilson, as he will have to choose between coverage from the opposing team's top corner and additional safety help. Wilson is not worried about losing targets due to Adams' presence. "Nah. At the end of the day, if I lose a few targets, that's fine," Wilson said. " I got 22 the other day. It don't take that many to get where I want to get." Adams will make his Jets debut on Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
