Is Landon Dickerson retiring? Latest news on Eagles Pro Bowler’s future

The Philadelphia Eagles could be facing unexpected questions along their offensive line this offseason and one of the biggest revolves around Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson.

At just 27 years old and entering his sixth NFL season, Dickerson is not the typical candidate for retirement speculation. However, recent reports suggest that his future may not be as certain as many assumed. After a physically demanding 2026 season, the veteran lineman has reportedly been weighing his options.

Injury concerns raise questions

Dickerson has been a key part of the Eagles’ offensive success since being drafted in the second round in 2021. A three-time Pro Bowler, he has helped anchor one of the league’s most dominant offensive lines and played a major role in the team’s recent Super Bowl run.


But injuries have followed him throughout his football journey. Even during his college days at Alabama and Florida State, Dickerson dealt with serious setbacks, including ACL tears and ankle injuries. Those concerns were the primary reason he slipped in the draft.

This past season was particularly challenging. Although he appeared in 15 regular-season games and the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, he admitted he played through significant pain. After the season ended, Dickerson described the year bluntly as “sh-y” in terms of injuries. When asked whether he was confident about returning to full strength, his response was far from reassuring: “If I had that answer, I’d tell you.”



That uncertainty has fueled speculation about whether he might consider stepping away earlier than expected.

Landon Dickerson contract situation

Dickerson signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension in 2024, keeping him under contract through the 2028 season. His average annual salary of $21 million makes him one of the highest-paid guards in the NFL. Financially, there is no immediate pressure forcing a decision.



However, the Eagles are already dealing with change. Longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland has departed, and veteran tackle Lane Johnson is also reportedly weighing retirement. Losing both Johnson and Dickerson in the same offseason would dramatically reshape the team’s identity up front.

As of now, there has been no official announcement from Dickerson or the team. Sources indicate that he is still evaluating his health and long-term outlook before making any final call.

For Eagles fans, the situation remains one to monitor closely. Dickerson has proven his value on the field, but after years of physical toll and

the decision may ultimately come down to his body not his talent.
