“I would end up in jail”: Cardi B reveals why Offset breakup forced her into six months of being single before Stefon Diggs

Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, says she had no choice but to leave Offset, real name Kiari Cephus. She shared that staying in the marriage was too dangerous and could have even landed her in jail. After the split, Cardi spent six months living single. She said that time helped her heal. Only then did she meet NFL star Stefon Diggs. In September 2025, Cardi confirmed her relationship and said she is now expecting his child.

Cardi B reveals Offset divorce drama and money demands

Cardi B and Offset married in 2017 in Georgia. They share three children. Their relationship had many problems, cheating scandals, money fights, and public arguments. Cardi said by late 2024 she could not take it anymore.



In a live talk this year, she admitted, “If I stayed, I would end up in jail.” She said her health and peace were at risk.



The divorce is still not final. People reported in September 2025 that Offset demanded money before signing papers. His demands included tax payments and property rights.

Cardi B said this fight has been draining but necessary. She added that she does not hate Offset but could not live in a toxic cycle any longer.

Cardi B finds loyal love with NFL star Stefon Diggs

After six months alone, Cardi B met Stefon Diggs. Diggs is a wide receiver who joined the New England Patriots in 2024. On September 17, 2025, Cardi confirmed their relationship during an interview on CBS Mornings in New York. She also announced her pregnancy.

Cardi B said Stefon Diggs is very different from her past. She called him loyal and respectful. She told CBS News, “He makes me feel strong and safe.”

Still, there has been new drama. In December 2024, an Instagram model filed a paternity case against Diggs. She claimed he could be the father of her daughter. Stefon Diggs agreed to DNA testing and said he would take responsibility if proven.

Cardi B has stood by Stefon Diggs through the case. She said the six months she spent single made her realize she wanted only loyalty and peace. She believes she has found that with him.
