“I was fighting with them”: Patriots WR Stefon Diggs reveals what really happened in the blue medical tent during Sunday night win vs Ravens

Stefon Diggs’ Sunday night took an unexpected turn. During New England’s win over the Baltimore Ravens, the veteran wide receiver suddenly disappeared from the sideline. Moments later, he showed up inside the blue medical tent, only to exit again just as fast. The sequence left fans confused and searching for answers. After the game, Diggs cleared it up himself. His explanation was direct and emotional. What happened inside the tent frustrated him and he made it clear he did not agree with how the situation was handled. “I was blacking out, bro. They were holding me in the tent,” Diggs said.
According to Diggs, the medical staff told him he had a concussion, something he strongly disagreed with. He said there was no hit to the head and no moment where he went down. What bothered him most was that the concern didn’t match what he was feeling. “They said I had a concussion, but they never touched my head; I never laid on the ground. They monitored me for a concussion. I said, ‘I never had a concussion.’ I was touching my shoulder, so how y’all say I had a concussion? I was fighting with them to get back out there.”

Why Stefon Diggs refused to stay on the sideline

For Diggs, the timing made it worse. This all happened on the Patriots’ opening drive, when he felt he was needed most. Sitting out was never something he planned to accept. “It was the first drive. I’m wired to get back out there to make plays for my team. We had a little stall, so I was like, ‘Damn, I’m supposed to be out there.’ I feel like I let the team down if I’m not out there. I apologized to them afterwards, but you can’t stop me from being out on the field.”
The broadcast made things even worse. NBC’s Melissa Starks reported that Diggs had to be “physically restrained” inside the tent and that he “eventually escaped out the back.” Word spread quickly and caught attention across the league.
Diggs later explained what triggered the check in the first place. After making a 25-yard catch early in the game, he landed hard and got up flexing his shoulder. Trainers stepped in. Diggs shared the moment with humor. “I said, ‘listen, I don’t even remember what I ate yesterday,’” Diggs joked.
Once cleared, Diggs returned and made his presence felt. He finished the night with nine catches for 138 yards in New England’s 28-24 win. He also crossed the 70-catch mark for the season, earning a $500,000 bonus and reinforcing his value after signing a three-year, $69 million deal.
