Balancing a thriving career and motherhood is a challenge many women face, and Erin Andrews is no exception. The veteran Fox Sports reporter recently opened up on her Calm Down podcast about the overwhelming struggles she’s encountered while raising her toddler, Mack, alongside her demanding career.
Erin Andrews' long and emotional journey to motherhood
Despite her success, Erin Andrews admitted to feeling stretched thin, confessing, “I feel like I’m not giving 100 percent of myself to my son, or my job, or my clothing line. I felt like I was barely above water.”
Andrews' road to becoming a mother was anything but easy. After a nine-year IVF journey, cervical cancer surgery, and heartbreaking losses, she and her husband, former NHL player Jarret Stoll, welcomed Mack via surrogate in 2023. Having fought so hard to become a mother, Andrews initially believed she could balance it all. However, as Mack grew older and started recognizing when she was leaving, the emotional weight of separation hit her harder than she expected.
Like so many working parents, Andrews found herself trapped in the cycle of guilt—feeling as though she wasn’t giving enough to either her child or her career. She admitted, “I didn’t do myself any favors with how hard on myself I was.” However, as she reflects on the past year, she recognizes the need for change. “I need to go easier on myself,” she shared. “And I’ve realized that.”
Why Erin Andrews' honesty about motherhood resonates with so many
Andrews’ candidness about her struggles sends a powerful message to working moms everywhere. The pressure to do everything perfectly is immense, but as she has learned, perfection isn’t the goal—showing up and doing your best is. “I was so worried I wasn’t giving all of myself to both things… but I was doing the best I could, and everybody’s fine. And I think I just need to give myself a little bit of grace.”
