The spotlight on
Dak Prescott has shifted from the field to his personal life, but those close to him insist he is handling it with strength. Just weeks before what was expected to be a high-profile wedding, Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos made the difficult decision to call off their engagement. The news surprised fans, especially given how close the couple appeared to tying the knot.
Yet inside the Dallas Cowboys organization, there is a different tone. Rather than concern, there is quiet confidence in how their quarterback is coping. And that message is coming directly from someone who sees him up close every day.
Cowboys coach opens up on Dak Prescott’s mindset after split
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer did not shy away when asked about Dak Prescott’s situation. Instead, he offered a glimpse into their ongoing conversations. “Dak and I have had a ton of conversations,” he shared, before adding, “He's in a really good spot, obviously with what he's dealing with is incredibly tough. But if anyone can handle it, he can.”
That level of support matters, especially during an offseason where personal challenges can easily spill into professional focus. Schottenheimer also explained that staying connected with players is part of his routine. “I try to talk to all the guys...I reach out to most of them. I actually got a plan. I'm a little bit, a little I guess obsessive, compulsive in that regard in trying to reach out to position groups to check in.” It is a hands-on approach, and Prescott appears to be benefiting from it.
The split itself was not driven by public drama. According to earlier statements, the decision was mutual, even if it came with heartbreak. Both Prescott and Ramos, who share two young daughters, chose to step away without a major fallout. Ramos also addressed speculation surrounding a prenuptial agreement, stating clearly, "This had nothing to do with a prenup. I hope we can put that rumor to rest now."
In many ways, this moment tests more than just Prescott’s personal resilience. It also shapes how he enters the upcoming season. For a quarterback already under constant scrutiny, balance becomes everything.
Right now, the message from inside Dallas is simple. Prescott is steady. He is focused. And despite the noise around his personal life, those closest to him believe he is exactly where he needs to be.
