Green Bay Packers: Jaire Alexander provides update on shoulder injury

NEW DELHI: Green Bay Packers' star cornerback Jaire Alexander addressed the media, shedding light on the shoulder injury that has sidelined him for over a month. Sporting his signature white sunglasses and championship-style belts, Alexander, the highest-paid corner in the NFL, spoke candidly about his recovery and the challenges of playing through the discomfort.

Alexander emphasized that the shoulder injury is the sole reason for his absence from the field, clarifying that there are no other injuries impacting his playing time. The injury occurred during the Packers' Week 11 victory over the Los Angeles Rams when Alexander dove to tip a pass, immediately feeling the impact on his shoulder. Despite the pain, he continued to play through the injury.



As a cornerback, Alexander highlighted the significance of upper body mobility for players in his position, especially elite corners who rely on their range of motion to disrupt passes. The ongoing shoulder issue has limited his effectiveness on the field.

Addressing the pressure to return, Alexander acknowledged the expectations that come with being the highest-paid corner and a veteran leader on a young team. He expressed his commitment to being on the field only when he can perform at his best.

During Alexander's absence, rookie Carrington Valentine and free agent Corey Ballentine have stepped up to fill the cornerback positions. Alexander commended their performance, stating that he is "living vicariously" through Valentine's contributions.

Remarkably confident in the Packers' success, Alexander mentioned predicting the team's winning streak five weeks ago. Despite being sidelined, he expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, affirming his belief that the Packers would continue their winning streak.
