Gardner Minshew joined the Kansas City Chiefs this spring after a 2024 season with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he started nine games and completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 2,013 yards, nine touchdowns, and ten interceptions. Speaking on Thursday, the veteran explained what daily work with Patrick Mahomes looks like.
“It’s been awesome, man. It’s crazy watching him every day. It’s been really cool. Watching how he prepares, how he takes notes, how he practices, and how he has fun,” Minshew said.
“There’s so much he does at the highest, best level that it’s really cool to be around.” The former Jacksonville Jaguars starter, who threw 21 touchdown passes as a rookie in 2019, emphasized that observing Mahomes’ routine was a major reason he chose Kansas City.
“Seeing how he prepares, I think that’s one of the things that I really wanted to come here and see: how he prepares, not only in the building but how he gets his body right?” Minshew added.
“How does he train? I think he does everything at the elite, like the highest level. And there’s just so much to take from that.” With Mahomes aiming for a fourth straight Super Bowl appearance, Minshew’s experience provides insurance if injuries strike again.
