Following Jason Kelce’s Smash, Bo Nickal Plots His Own Viral Moment in the UFC

UFC middleweight sensation Bo Nickal has recently expressed a desire to emulate a controversial act by NFL star Jason Kelce. While Kelce’s actions were motivated by a homophobic slur directed at his brother, Nickal’s intent seems rooted in a more general frustration with intrusive fans and paparazzi.

Nickal, who is set to face Paul Craig at UFC 309, discussed the incident on his podcast, Nickal and Dimes. He openly admitted his aspiration to handle such situations with a similar level of assertiveness, seemingly undeterred by the potential consequences.

Nickal said, “I want to do that so bad. The only thing I’d do differently is, after I smash it, I’d stomp on it.” However, Nickal added a twist, saying that he’d make up for the damage: “I’m going to pull out 500 bucks, throw it in that guy’s face, and just say, ‘Boom! You can’t press charges. Go buy a new phone.”

However, Nickal might want to reconsider his approach. Conor McGregor, a former UFC champion, already faced legal repercussions for a similar incident in 2019. The Irishman was charged with assault after smashing a fan’s phone, an action that led to his arrest and subsequent legal battles.

While Kelce’s actions were met with mixed reactions, he later expressed regret over how the situation escalated. He acknowledged that his response was excessive and vowed to handle future confrontations with more restraint.

The incident has sparked a broader debate about the rights of celebrities to privacy. Travis Kelce, Jason’s brother, questioned whether public figures should be subjected to constant scrutiny and harassment. He defended his brother’s actions, arguing that he was merely protecting his family from a hateful remark.

He stated, “I think what it really is, is you had some f**king clown come up to you and talk about your family, and you reacted in a way that was defending your family. And you might have used some words that you regret using. And that’s a situation where you just kinda have to learn from and own.”

As Nickal prepares for his upcoming fight, it remains to be seen whether he will act on his stated intention. While his ambition to emulate Kelce may be rooted in a desire for self-protection, it is important to weigh the potential risks and consequences of such actions.
